Itinerary
Your tour begins in the evening as you board a comfortable AC Volvo bus or meet your private cab for an overnight journey from Delhi to Manali. As you leave the bustling city behind, the plains of Haryana and Punjab slowly give way to the mountainous terrain of Himachal Pradesh. With every hour, the air becomes cooler and crisper, and the landscape transforms into rolling hills and pine-covered slopes. The journey takes around 12 to 14 hours and is a scenic drive, especially after you cross into the Himachal region. Overnight travel offers the perfect opportunity to rest before the real adventure begins.
You’ll arrive in Manali early in the morning. A representative from Himalayan Holiday Trip will receive you and assist with your hotel check-in. After a refreshing welcome drink and a hearty breakfast, you’ll have time to relax and freshen up before starting your local sightseeing tour of Manali.
The day begins with a visit to the famous Hadimba Devi Temple, a unique structure built in 1553, surrounded by lush cedar forests. This temple is not only a place of worship but also a significant architectural landmark. Next, you will proceed to the Manu Temple, which is believed to be the only temple dedicated to Sage Manu, the creator of human civilization according to Hindu mythology. Afterward, you’ll head to the Vashisht Temple, where natural hot water springs offer a relaxing and therapeutic experience for travelers.
In the afternoon, you’ll visit the Tibetan Monasteries, which add a touch of spiritual serenity to Manali. These monasteries also offer beautiful Tibetan handicrafts and souvenirs. A stop at the Club House is next, a vibrant place with indoor activities and a riverside café where you can enjoy some leisure time.
As the day winds down, you’ll return to your hotel. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll along Mall Road, a lively street filled with shops, cafés, and bakeries. You can indulge in shopping for woollens, wooden crafts, or try out some local delicacies. Dinner will be served at your hotel, followed by an overnight stay in the comfort of your mountain-view room.
After an early breakfast at your hotel, get ready for a day filled with excitement and adventure as you travel to Solang Valley. Situated about 14 kilometers from Manali, Solang is a haven for adventure enthusiasts and offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks and sprawling green meadows.
Once in Solang, you can choose from a range of thrilling activities such as paragliding, ropeway rides, snow scooter rides (seasonal), ATV biking, or simply enjoying a horse ride through the valley. The cable car ride offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. In the winter months, the valley becomes a popular skiing destination, while in summer, it transforms into a lush green landscape ideal for zorbing and quad biking.
Time permitting, you may also visit the Atal Tunnel, the world's longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet. This engineering marvel connects Manali to Lahaul Valley and significantly reduces travel time. A quick visit through the tunnel opens up a different world with barren, rugged terrain and dramatic mountain views.
In the late afternoon, return to Manali and spend the rest of the evening at leisure. You can enjoy another stroll along the river, savor some local Himachali cuisine, or simply unwind at your hotel. Dinner will be served at the hotel, followed by a peaceful night’s rest.
The highlight of your tour begins today. Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting off on a mesmerizing drive to Chandratal Lake, one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in India, often referred to as the “Moon Lake” due to its crescent shape.
Your journey will take you through the Atal Tunnel into Lahaul Valley, where the landscape changes dramatically. You’ll drive past snow-clad peaks, gushing rivers, and remote hamlets. The air becomes thinner and the scenery more surreal as you approach the Spiti region. Key points along the route include Sissu, Tandi, Chhatru, and Batal, each offering stunning vistas and photo opportunities.
Once you reach the parking area near Chandratal, a short trek of around 2 kilometers will lead you to the lake. Upon reaching, you will be awe-struck by the crystal-clear blue waters surrounded by the mighty Himalayas. The peace and silence here are truly spiritual. The lake is sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus and holds deep significance in local folklore.
In the evening, you’ll head back to the designated camping area near the lake. Accommodation will be in Swiss tents with attached washrooms or luxury camps depending on the chosen package. Enjoy a traditional Himachali meal prepared at the camp and sit around a warm bonfire under the starlit sky. Stargazing at Chandratal is a magical experience as the clear skies and minimal light pollution allow you to see the Milky Way and countless constellations. The cool breeze, the quietude, and the distant echoes of nature will lull you into a peaceful night’s sleep in your cozy tent.
Wake up early to catch the sunrise over Chandratal, a spectacle of changing colors that illuminates the lake in golden and blue hues. After a refreshing morning tea and breakfast, you’ll begin your return journey to Manali. The drive back is equally scenic, with multiple stops to stretch, take photos, or enjoy tea at roadside dhabas.
You’ll reach Manali by afternoon. Depending on your schedule, you can enjoy a hot shower and a late lunch (on your own) or do some last-minute shopping. The final leg of your journey begins as you are dropped off at the Manali bus stand for your overnight Volvo back to Delhi or continue your return by private cab if that option is selected.
With hearts full of memories, breathtaking photographs, and a soul refreshed by the magic of the mountains, your trip concludes.
