Itinerary
Your adventure begins as our representative picks you up from Delhi Airport or Railway Station in the early morning hours. From here, the journey unfolds through the bustling towns of Haryana and Punjab before ascending into the lower Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh. As you gain altitude, the air turns crisp and fragrant with pine. The day’s destination is the peaceful hamlet of Narkanda, a lesser-known but incredibly charming town located about 65 km beyond Shimla.
Narkanda offers panoramic views of snow-clad mountains, dense pine forests, and a tranquil environment that makes for a perfect first stop in the hills. After checking into your cozy mountain lodge or hotel, unwind with a warm dinner and soak in the peace of this serene hill station. Overnight stay in Narkanda.
After an early breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin the scenic drive to Kalpa, located in the Kinnaur district. The journey today takes you through picturesque valleys and winding mountain roads alongside the raging Sutlej River. En route, you will pass through Rampur, a historic town that was once the winter capital of the princely state of Bushahr.
As you climb higher, the landscape changes dramatically — pine trees give way to rugged cliffs and sharp ridges, while terraced fields and apple orchards hug the mountainsides. By evening, you arrive in Kalpa, one of the most beautiful villages in Himachal. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Kinner Kailash range, Kalpa’s charm lies in its traditional wooden houses, colorful monasteries, and old-world calm.
After checking into your hotel, take a short stroll through the village and catch a mesmerizing sunset over the mountains. Dinner and overnight stay in Kalpa.
Wake up to a spectacular sunrise over the snow-clad peaks. After breakfast, get ready for a day of local exploration around Kalpa and nearby villages.
Start with a visit to the Suicide Point, a steep vertical cliff offering dramatic views of the valley below. Then head to Roghi Village, a traditional Kinnauri settlement known for its wooden houses, sloped rooftops, and colorful architecture. Stroll through the narrow lanes, meet the friendly locals, and take in the tranquility.
Next, visit the Kalpa Monastery, a serene place influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, adorned with murals and prayer wheels. You can also visit Narayan-Nagini Temple, a beautiful wooden temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Durga, known for its intricate carvings and spiritual ambiance.
Return to your hotel in the afternoon and spend the evening relaxing or enjoying the sunset from your room’s balcony.
Dinner and overnight stay in Kalpa.
After breakfast, check out from Kalpa and begin a short but scenic drive to Sangla Valley, one of Himachal’s most beautiful and lesser-explored valleys. The route hugs the banks of the Baspa River, with thick pine forests, charming wooden bridges, and traditional Kinnauri homes dotting the landscape.
On arrival in Sangla, check in to your riverside resort or boutique homestay. After some rest, head out to explore the charming village. Visit the Bering Nag Temple, an important place of worship for the locals, and stroll through the Kamru Fort, an ancient structure that once served as the royal seat of the Bashahr rulers.
Spend your afternoon relaxing by the Baspa River or exploring the nearby trails that take you through apple orchards and scenic meadows.
Dinner and overnight stay in Sangla.
This day marks the beginning of your journey into the raw and remote landscapes of Spiti Valley. After an early breakfast, check out and head toward Kaza, the administrative capital of Spiti. The drive, although long, is filled with stunning vistas and fascinating cultural encounters.
The route climbs up through Karcham, Powari, and reaches Nako, a picturesque village built around the serene Nako Lake. Take a short break here to explore the lake and the 11th-century Nako Monastery, perched on a hill above the village.
Continue driving to Tabo, often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.” Stop to visit the Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest continuously functioning Buddhist monasteries in India. The mud-brick structure houses centuries-old murals, thangkas, and frescoes that reflect the deep spiritual and artistic heritage of Tibetan Buddhism.
Reach Kaza by late evening, check in to your hotel or guesthouse, and relax after the long journey.
Overnight stay in Kaza with dinner.
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast amidst the stark beauty of Spiti. Today is a day of exploration, visiting some of the world’s highest motorable villages and sacred Buddhist sites.
Start your tour with a visit to the Key Monastery, Spiti’s largest and most iconic monastery. Perched atop a hill, this 11th-century monastery is a labyrinth of prayer rooms, stupas, and monk quarters. Next, head to Kibber Village, one of the highest inhabited villages in the world. This village is also the gateway to the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the elusive snow leopard and blue sheep.
Continue to Hikkim, where you can send a postcard from the world’s highest post office, and then to Komic Village, the highest village in the world with road connectivity. Finally, visit Langza, home to ancient marine fossils and a towering statue of Lord Buddha overlooking the valley.
Return to Kaza by evening for dinner and overnight stay. The cold desert landscape, dotted with chortens and fluttering prayer flags, will remain etched in your memory.
Today marks the beginning of your return journey to the greener and more temperate parts of Himachal Pradesh. After breakfast, depart from Kaza early in the morning. The route retraces your path through Tabo, Nako, Rampur, and onward to Shimla, the colonial summer capital of British India.
As you descend from the stark landscapes of Spiti into the green valleys of Kinnaur and eventually to Shimla, the contrast in scenery is both beautiful and surreal. You’ll reach Shimla by late evening, where you’ll check into a comfortable hotel.
After a long drive, enjoy a warm dinner and get some well-deserved rest.
