Itinerary
Your journey to Manali begins as our courteous driver picks you up from Chandigarh in the early morning. You may be picked up from the airport, railway station, or any pre-decided location within the city. As you leave Chandigarh behind, the plains gradually give way to rolling hills, lush forests, and the sparkling waters of mountain rivers. The drive passes through beautiful towns like Bilaspur, Sundernagar, and Mandi, where you’ll see winding roads skirting the slopes and occasional glimpses of terraced farms, traditional homes, and distant snowy peaks.
A brief stop is made on the way for refreshments and lunch, allowing you to enjoy a meal amidst nature. As you move closer to Kullu Valley, the landscape becomes even more scenic, with the Beas River accompanying you on one side. You may notice small clusters of apple orchards and deodar forests beginning to appear.
By evening, you arrive in Manali, where you will check in at your pre-booked hotel. The fresh mountain air and serene surroundings welcome you warmly. After settling into your room, you may relax on your balcony or take a short walk nearby to get a feel for the town. Dinner will be served at the hotel, after which you can retire for a peaceful night’s sleep, preparing for the exciting day ahead.
After enjoying a delightful breakfast at the hotel, you begin your local sightseeing tour of Manali. The first destination is the renowned Hadimba Devi Temple, surrounded by dense cedar forests. Built in the 16th century, this wooden temple dedicated to the wife of Bhima from the Mahabharata features distinct architecture and is a peaceful place nestled amidst nature. The lush greenery around the temple and its tranquil atmosphere provide a perfect start to the day.
Next, you proceed to Vashisht Village, known for its ancient temple and natural hot water springs. Many visitors take a dip in the sulfur-rich springs, believed to have therapeutic properties. The village also offers beautiful views of the surrounding valley and glimpses of local Himachali life.
Your exploration continues with a visit to the Tibetan Monastery located in the heart of Manali. It offers a cultural experience through its colorful prayer flags, spinning wheels, and fine Buddhist artwork. The monastery is a place of peace and reflection, and its small shop offers Tibetan artifacts and souvenirs.
In the afternoon, you head towards the bustling Mall Road, the main commercial hub of Manali. Here, you can indulge in some shopping, trying out local woollens, handicrafts, wooden items, and handmade souvenirs. You may choose to dine at one of the charming cafes or enjoy lunch at a local restaurant offering authentic Himachali cuisine or Indian, Tibetan, and continental fare.
After lunch, you may take a relaxing stroll through Van Vihar, a forested park located near the Mall Road. The park has tall deodar trees, a small lake with paddle boats, and plenty of open space to enjoy a calm retreat within the town.
By evening, you return to the hotel, where tea or coffee is served. You can spend the rest of your time unwinding at the hotel. Some hotels may organize a bonfire or offer recreational facilities for guests. Dinner is served at the hotel, and you retire for the night after an enriching day of sightseeing and experiences.
After an early breakfast, you get ready for the most awaited part of the tour – the excursion to Solang Valley or Rohtang Pass, depending on weather conditions and accessibility.
If you are visiting during summer or winter, Solang Valley is the preferred destination, located about 14 kilometers from Manali. The valley is known for its breathtaking views of snow-covered peaks and adventure activities. Depending on the season, you may try paragliding, zip-lining, skiing, snow tubing, snow scooter rides, and ropeway trips. Photographers and nature lovers find Solang to be a perfect location to capture Himalayan beauty at its best.
If Rohtang Pass is open (usually from May to November), and you have acquired the required permit in advance, the drive to Rohtang is an extraordinary experience. Located at a height of 13,050 feet, Rohtang offers panoramic views of glaciers, peaks, and deep valleys. You may find patches of snow even in summer, and the area remains a favorite for snow sports. Maggi stalls and tea vendors at the pass serve steaming snacks which feel heavenly in the cold mountain air.
After spending time at either Solang Valley or Rohtang Pass, you begin your return journey towards Manali in the afternoon. On the way, you can stop briefly at Rahala Waterfalls or take a break by the side of the Beas River, clicking pictures or just soaking in the natural beauty.
Optionally, if time allows and energy permits, you may visit Naggar Castle, located a short drive from Manali. This old wooden castle provides scenic views of the Kullu Valley and houses a museum with paintings by Russian artist Nicholas Roerich.
You reach the hotel by evening and enjoy a hot dinner before settling down for your final night in Manali.
On your final day, you wake up to the crisp mountain air and enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. After completing the check-out formalities, you begin your journey back to Chandigarh. As the cab retraces the route, you once again witness the enchanting landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, crossing through the same towns and valleys that greeted you on your arrival.
You may make short stops for tea, lunch, or souvenirs at Kullu, where you can shop for woollen clothes, handmade shawls, local dry fruits, and traditional Himachali caps. As you approach the plains, the terrain gradually transforms from steep mountain roads to smooth highways.
By late evening, you arrive in Chandigarh. The driver will drop you off at your chosen location – airport, railway station, or hotel. With your heart filled with unforgettable memories and your camera loaded with pictures, the trip concludes on a joyful note.
